The Lake Lady Hornets had a rough week on the diamond as they lost three of four games.
After a 9-2 win over Ethel on Thursday, Lake lost 3-2 to West Lauderdale on Friday. On Saturday, Lake lost 7-6 to North Pike and 14-1 to Brandon.
Lake will travel to Northeast Mississippi Community College and will play Red Bay on Thursday at 5 p.m.. On Friday, they will play Tishomingo County at 11:30 a.m. and Booneville at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, Lake will go to the Jones County Junior College Tournament and will play Madison Central at 5 p.m. and Vancleave at 7 p.m.
Lake 9, Ethel 2
The Lady Hornets took advantage of eight errors by the Lady Tigers and took a seven-run win on Thursday.
Lake had nine hits in the contest as Reagan Clark was 2-for-4 with a double. Laurel Breland had a single and drove in two runs while Landry LeBlanc doubled and drove in a run. Kate Gladney singled and scored twice while Alana Edmonds, Josie Gibbs and Kaytie Hillman each singed and scored a run. Tra’Shaylah Wilson also scored two runs.
Gladney got the start and pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Taylor Duncan pitched the final two innings, striking out three.
West Lauderdale 3, Lake 2
Lake had seven hits as Alana Edmonds was 2-for-2 and drove in a run. Taylor Duncan singled and scored a run while Josie Gibbs singled and drive in a run. Reagan Clark and Kaytie Hillman also had singles for Lake.
Taylor Duncan pitched all seven innings and gave up three unearned runs on five hits and five walks while striking out four.
North Pike 7, Lake 6
Lake had seven hits as Taylor Duncan went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Reagan Clark was 2-for-4 with a double while Landry LeBlanc had a triple and drove in two runs.
Kate Gladney pitched all seven innings and was tagged with the loss, pitching all seven innings and giving up seven runs on nine hits and seven walks while striking out nine.
Brandon 14, Lake 1
Lake had four hits as Landy LeBlanc was 2-for-2 with a double. Kate Gladney had a triple while Reagan Clark also had a single.
Taylor Duncan pitched four innings, giving up 14 runs on nine hits and five walks while Marcie McMillan pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
