It appears first-year coach Maurice Bowie has made an impact at Lake High School.
The Hornets took three wins last week as they beat rival Union 46-45 in overtime to take first place in the Sebastopol Tournament. Lake also beat Clarkdale twice, winning 57-44 and 55-31.
Lake will travel to Enterprise on Tuesday and travel to Pisgah on Friday.
Lake boys 47, Union 45
The Hornets grabbed the Sebastopol Tournament title on Saturday as they edged rival Union in overtime.
Union led 10-7 at the end of the first and 21-17 at the half. Lake tied the game back up in the third as thy outscored Union 14-10 to make the score 31-31 going into the fourth. After each team scored 12 in the fourth, Lake outscored Union 4-2 in the overtime period to take the win.
Zywon Ledbetter led a balanced Lake scoring attack with 11 points while Angelo Sowell had nine points. J’Lann Broadfoot had six points while Tahi Lay and Danarrious Hughes each had five points apiece.
P.J. Gage and J.T. Vance each had 10 points apiece while Sage Gunn added seven points.
Lake boys 57, Clarkdale 44
The Hornets overcame a fourth-period deficit and blew out the Bulldogs on Thursday in the Sebastopol Tournament.
Clarkdale led 14-11 at the end of the first and 27-23 at the half. After falling behind 39-33 at the end of the third, Lake outscored Clarkdale 24-5 in the fourth to take the win.
J’Lann Broadfoot led lake with 17 points while Danarrious Hughes had nine points. Mike Harris and Tim Norris each had six points apiece.
Lake boys 55, Clarkdale 31
The Hornets used explosive middle periods as they took a 24-point win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
Lake led just 9-4 at the end of the first period before outscoring Clarkdale 17-6 in the second and 23-5 in the third to lead 49-15 going into the fourth.
Mike Harris led Lake with 12 points while Tahi Lay had 11 points. Brady McGee and Danarrious Hughes each had six points apiece.
