The Newton County Academy boys grabbed a much-needed win last week.
The Generals beat Canton 46-29 but lost 57-35 to Clinton Christian and Wayne 48-46.
The Lady Generals lost three contests, falling 47-31 to Clinton Christian, 41-23 to Canton and 44-35 to Wayne.
Newton County Academy returns to action on Monday when they host Tri-County Academy. They will travel to Prentiss Christian on Tuesday and will host Brookhaven on Friday.
Clinton Christian boys 57, NCA 35
The Warriors overcame a slow start to pull away and take a 22-point win over the Generals.
Clinton led 7-5 at the end of the first period but outscored the Generals 20-10 in the second to lead 27-15 at the half. The Warriors continued to extend its lead in the second half as they outscored the Generals 16-12 in the third and 14-8 in the fourth.
Ethan McDill led the Generals with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Clinton Christian girls 47, NCA 31
The Lady Warriors jumped out to a big lead and held on for a 16-point win.
Clinton jumped out to a 12-3 lead at the end of the first and led 24-14 at the half. The Lady Warriors extended the lead in the second half as they outscored the Lady Generals 13-10 in the third and 10-7 in the fourth.
Karlie Blackledge led the Lady Generals with nine points while Kelli Hollingsworth and Anna Laurel Moody each had seven points apiece.
NCA boys 46, Canton 29
The Generals played their best game of the season as they took a 17-point win over the Panthers, avenging an early season loss.
The Generals came out hitting on all cylinders as they outscored the Panthers 14-2 in the first period and led 25-11 at the half. Canton fought back in the third and outscored NCA 12-5 to make the score 30-23 going into the fourth. But the Generals pulled away as they outscored the Panthers 16-6 to take the win.
Dalton Sibley had a big night as he scored a season-high 21 points while Ethan McDill had nine points and 13 rebounds. Kemp Alderman had nine points and nine rebounds.
Canton girls 41, NCA 23
The Lady Panthers dominated the early action and cruised to an 18-point win.
Canton led 13-3 at the end of the first and 22-5 at the half. The Lady Panthers extended their lead in the third, outscoring the Lady Generals 12-5 in the third for a 34-10 lead.
Kaleigh Cosgrove led the Lady Generals with 10 points while Kelli Hollingsworth had five points.
Wayne boys 48, NCA 46
In a back and forth contest, the Jaguars were able to pull out a two-point win on Friday night.
The Generals led 10-8 at the end of the first and 20-19 at the half. The Generals outscored the Jaguars 15-13 in the third to lead 35-32 going into the fourth. The Jaguars outscored the Generals 16-11 in the fourth to take the win.
Ethan McDill had 18 points and six rebounds while Dalton Sibley had 12 points.
Wayne girls 44, NCA 35
The Lady Jaguars outscored the Lady Generals in the last three periods to take a nine-point win.
NCA led 15-12 at the end of the first but Wayne outscored the Lady Generals 11-3 in the second to take a 23-18 lead. The Lady Jaguars outscored the Lady Generals 10-8 in the third and 11-9 in the fourth to take the win.
Karli Blackledge led the Lady Generals with 10 points while Kaleigh Cosgrove had eight points. Kelli Hollingsworth had seven points while Asten Rusell had six points.
