The Newton County Lady Cougars finished off another solid regular season last week with a 6-1 over Enterprise on senior night.
Newton County, now 21-5 on the season, got a first-round bye in the Class 4A playoffs. They will play the winner of East Central and Mendenhall on Tuesday. East Central won game one of the series 19-0.

The Lady Cougars got a solid pitching performance from Shelby Anderson to take a five-run win over the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday.
County scored singled runs in the second and fourth innings and two runs in the third and fifth innings.
County outhit Enterprise 6-3 in the contest. Lorren Ivey was 2-for-3 while Anderson doubled and drove in two runs. Lanie Phillips singled, stole two bases and drove in two runs while Landree Amis doubled and scored a run. Katelyn Gipson scored two runs and had three stolen bases while Karlye Tolbird singled and drove in a run.
Anderson pitched all seven innings for the Lady Cougars, giving up one run on three hits and striking out 10.
