The Newton Lady Tigers wrapped up an outstanding regular season as they finished with a 22-2 record and went undefeated in Division 4-2A play.
The Lady Tigers secured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Division 4-2A tournament that will be held at Lake s they beat Scott Central 66-13 in Tuesday and Union 48-33 on Friday.
The Newton Tigers grabbed two wins this past week as they improved to 20-7 overall and 7-1 in 4-2A play as they beat Scott Central 43-30 and Union 35-33.
The Newton girls are the No. 1 seed and will take on the winner of Lake and Union game at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Lake and Union will play Monday at 6 p.m. The Newton boys are the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will play Union on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

Scott Central 13
The Lady Tigers used a suffocating defense as they hammered the Lady Rebels by 53 points on Tuesday.
Newton outscored Scott Central in every period as they led 10-6 in the first and 29-9 at the half. Newton continued to extend the lead in the second half as they outscored Scott Central 18-2 in the third and 19-2 in the fourth.
McKinley Ware led Newton with 16 points while Zia Shields had 13 points. Myja McNichols had 12 points while Ja’Leah Hickmon added eight points.

Scott Central 30
The Tigers outscored the Rebels in every period and gradually pulled away to take a 13-point win.
Newton led 9-7 at the end of the first and 20-15 at the half. The Tigers continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring Newton 10-6 in the third and 13-9 in the fourth.
Jacquez Robinson led the Tigers with 10 points while Jamarian Pace had nine points. Deshaun Watts had eight points while Tyler Bedford and Jayden Parker each had six points apiece.
Newton girls 48, Union 33
The Lady Tigers built a 10-point lead in the first period and took a 15-point win over the Lady Jackets on Friday.
Newton jumped out and led 20-10 at the end of the first period and led 28-18 at the half. Union outscored Newton 8-7 in the third while Newton finished off the game by outscoring Union 13-7.
Nia McCalphia led Newton with 14 points while Myja McNichols had 11 points and McKinley Ware added nine points.
Ansley Rigby led Union with 13 points while Keirra Russell had eight points and Eryanna Mason added six points.
Newton boys 35, Union 33
The Tigers built a first-half lead and had to hold off furious second-half lead to beat the Jackets.
Newton led 10-9 at the end of the first and outscored the Jackets 11-5 in the second to lead 21-14 at the half. Newton outscored Union 7-4 in the third to lead 28-18 going into the fourth. Union mounted a comeback, outscoring Newton 15-7 for the final margin.
Henry Ooten led Newton with 10 points while Jamarian Pace added nine points. Dazmeon Page added seven points.
Jamarcus Jones had 13 points while J.T. Vance added nine points and Jada Russell added six points.
Philadelphia boys 51,
Union 37
The Tornadoes pulled away with a big second period to beat Union by 14, a week after beating the Yellowjackets by 48 points.
Each team scored 11 in the first period before Philly outscored Union 19-7 in the second to lead 30-18 at the half. Each team scored 10 in the third and Philly outscored Union 11-9 in the fourth.
J.T. Vance led Union with 21 points while Demarcus Jones added 10 points.

Union 52
The Lady Tornadoes built a big first-half lead and held off a second-half rally by the Lady Tornadoes to take the win.
Philly jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first and outscored Union 14-9 in the second to lead 28-13 at the half. Philly outscored Union 18-17 in the third to take a 46-30 lead into the fourth. But Union outscored Philly 22-13 in the fourth for the final margin.
Keirra Russell led Philly with 13 points while Ansley Rigby and Kamyia Russell each had 11 points apiece. Kaliyah Temple also had nine points for Union.
