While most slow-pitch softball teams are struggling with the new balls, the Lake Lady Hornets seem to be just fine.
Lake took a 22-12 win over Philadelphia on Friday to open the regular season after sweeping Choctaw Central 14-0 and 19-17 on Tuesday in a doubleheader.
Lake will return to action on Monday as they host Clinton. On Thursday, Lake travels to Bay Springs and will then be in the Warren Central Tournament on Saturday.
Lake 22, Philadelphia 12
The Lady Hornets had a whopping 25 hits as they beat the Lady Tornadoes by 10 runs on Friday.
Landry LeBlanc had a huge day, going 5-for-5 and hit for the cycle with a pair of double, a triple and a home run while driving in six runs. Alan Edmonds was 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs while Laurel Breland was 3-for-4 and scored five runs. Taylor Duncan was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Kaytie Hillman was 3-for-4 with a double. Kate Gladney was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Josie Gibbs was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Brantlee McGee and Katlyn Lott each pitched three innings apiece for Lake as they gave up 13 hits and nine walks.
Lake 19, Choctaw Central 17
After an easy first game against the Lady Warriors, Lake needed every run to take a two-run win over Choctaw on Tuesday.
Lake hadanother big game at the plate as they pounded out 25 hits. Landry LeBlanc was 5-for-5 with two home runs, including a grand slam as she drove in seven runs and scored four times. Kaytie Hillman was 4-for-4 with a home runs and five RBIs while Kate Gladney was also 4-for-4. Laurel Breland was 3-for-4 with a double and four runs scored. Alana Edmonds was 3-for-4 while Josie Gibbs was 2-for-4 and drove in four runs.
Lake 14, Choctaw Central 0
Lake needed just five innings to win the season opener against Choctaw on Tuesday.
Lake had 15 hits on the day as Kate Gladney was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Josie Gibbs was 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Kaytie Hillman was 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Taylor Duncan was 2-for-2 and drove in two runs.
Abbie McGee doubled and drove in two runs while Chloe McDill also doubled. Brantlee McGee also scored twice.
