The Lake Hornets split a pair of games last week on the baseball diamond.
The Hornets opened the week with a tough 3-2 win over Morton and ended with a 6-4 loss to Sebastopol.
Lake, now 4-2, will play in the Forest Tournament during spring break week and will play Puckett on Monday at 12:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the Hornets will play Leake Central at 10 a.m. and will then play Choctaw Central on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Hornets will return from spring break and play Raleigh on Monday, March 16 before opening division 6-2A play at Newton on Tuesday. Lake will then host Newton on Friday, March 20 and finish out the week by hosting St. Andrew’s on Saturday, March 21.
Lake 3, Morton 2
The Hornets got a strong pitching performance from Brady McGee and took a one-run win over the Panthers on Monday.
Morton scored two in the third. Lake scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings.
Lake outhit Morton 5-4 in the contest as McGee was 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and a run scored. Ben Moore, Kenny Ray Hanna and Seth McGee also had singles for Lake. Jalen Gray had two stolen bases and scored two runs.
McGee pitched six innings and gave up two runs on four hits and two walks. striking out 14. Jacob Lanier pitched the seventh and struck out three to get the save.
Sebastopol 6, Lake 4
The Bobcats took a two runs win over the Hornets on Friday night.
Each team scored two in the first inning. Sebastopol scored two in the third and fourth. Lake scored two in the fourth.
Sebastopol outhit Lake 7-4 in the contest. Brady McGee was 2-for-3 with a double and triple to lead. Logan Palmer had two RBIs. Seth McGee singled and also scored a run.
Ethan Boleware was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs for Sebastopol. Connor Henry was 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Caleb Leach also had a double and drove in a run for the Bobcats.
Riley Bell got the start for the Hornets on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up six runs on six hits. striking out three. Ben Moore pitched the last two innings, giving up just one hit. striking out two.
Ben Myers started for Sebastopol and pitched four innings, giving up four runs on four hits and three walks. striking out four. Henry pitched three hitless innings and walked two. striking out three.
