The Lake Lady Hornets kept their unbeaten record intact with three more wins this past week, but it wasn’t easy.
Lake beat Union 6-3 on Monday and then held off Clarkdale 9-8 on Thursday before pounding out a 16-12 win over Saturday.
Lake, now 16-0, will play at Enterprise on Monday and then host Forest on Tuesday. Lake will finish out the week on Thursday at Newton.
Lake 16, Choctaw Central 12
The Lady Hornets overcame an early deficit and took a hard-fought four-run win over the Lady Warriors on Saturday.
Josie Gibbs was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Alana Edmonds was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs. Landry LeBlanc was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Taylor Duncan was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs while Laurel Breland was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Abbie McGee was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs while Kate Gladney was 2-for-4. Kaytie Hillman also had a solo home run.
Lake 9, Clarkdale 8
Laurel Breland was 3-for-4 with a double. Tra’Shayah Wilson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Katlyn Lott and Josie Gibbs were each 2-for-3. Kate Gladney and Landry LeBlanc were each 2-for-4.
Lott pitched all seven innings for the Lady Hornets in the win.
Lake 6, Union 3
In a battle of Class 2A powers, Lake was able to pull away late for the win.
Lake led 2-1 after two innings and each team scored a single run in the fifth inning. Lake pulled away with three runs in the top of the seventh while Union added one in the bottom of the inning.
Lake outhit Union 14-12 in the contest.
Taylor Duncan was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Laurel Breland was 3-for-3. Alana Edmonds and Kaytie Hillman were each 2-for-3 while Abbie McGee was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Josie Gibbs was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Tra’Shaylah Wilson also had two RBIs.
Katlyn Lott pitched all seven innings as she scatters 12 hits and gave up three runs.
