The Newton County Lady Cougars continued their strong start to the season with three more wins.
The Lady Cougars stayed undefeated as they beat Clarkdale 10-0, Northwest Rankin 13-6 and Union 14-1.
Newton County will play at Southeast Lauderdale on Tuesday and at Union on Thursday. The Lady Cougars will play at the Meridian Tournament on Saturday.
County 10, Clarkdale 0
The Lady Cougars scored in four of the five innings and took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Bulldogs on Monday.
County scored one in the first, four in the second, three in the third and two in the fifth.
County outhit Clarkdale 16-6 contest. Katelyn Gipson was 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Haley McDowell was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Jada McDougle was 2-for-2 with a double while Casey Dube was 2-for-3. Lizzy Hollingsworth and Maeli Ben each doubled and drove in two runs while Lanie Phillips scored two runs.
McDowell pitched the first three innings and Natalie Lampton the last two, scattering six hits.
County 13, NW Rankin 6
The Lady Cougars came back from a 5-2 deficit to take a seven-run win on Tuesday.
Northwest Rankin scored four in the bottom of the third to go up 5-2 before County answered with four in the fourth and six in the fifth to lead 12-5.
County banged out 21 hits in the contest, led by Jada McDougle who was 4-for-4 with a grand slam home run, four RBIs and three runs scored. Lizzy Hollingsworth was 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Casey Dube was also 3-for-5. Haley McDowell was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Lanie Phillips was 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Katelyn Gipson was 2-for-4. Loren Ivey had two RBIs while Katelyn Jackson scored two runs.
County 14, Union 1
Newton County scored 11 runs in the first inning and won a run-rule contest on Thursday.
After scoring 11 in the first, County added one in the second and two in the third. Union scored its only run in the fourth.
County outhit Union 12-4 in the contest. Haley McDowell was the only multiple hitter, going 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Jada McDougle had a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Lorren Ivey and Lanie Phillips each had doubles while Christyia Denson, Katelyn Gipson and Brelie Phillips each had triples.
Natalie Lampton pitched all five innings for the County and gave up four hits and one run.
