The Newton County Lady Cougars won their 11th straight game as they added three more wins to their record.
The Lady Cougars opened up the week with a 64-38 win over Northeast Jones on Tuesday and then hammered Mendenhall 53-36 on Friday. County finished the week with a 43-36 come-from-behind win over Philadelphia on Saturday.
The Lady Cougars improved to 16-7 on the season and will host Florence on Tuesday and travel to Richland on Friday.
Newton County girls 64, Northeast Jones 38
The Lady Cougars grabbed another division win as they hammered Northeast Jones by 26 points.
County jumped out to a 25-11 lead in the first period and outscored Northeast Jones 15-4 in the second to lead 40-15 at the half. County continued to extend its lead in the third period, outscoring Northeast 18-9 to lead 58-24 going to the fourth.
Christaysia Denson led Newton County with 13 points while Remini Nickey and Haley Beth McDowell each had 10 points apiece. Nahriah Brown and Keasja Wansley each had eight points apiece.
Newton County girls 53, Mendenhall 36
The Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Tigers in every period and cruised to a 17-point win in division play.
County led 21-13 at the end of the first period and 32-19 at the half. County continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Mendenhall 7-4 in the third and 14-13 in the fourth.
Nahriah Brown led County with 18 points while Christaysia Denson and Keasja Wansley each had eight points. Hanna McDougle had seven points and Jayden Mack added six points.
Newton County girls 43, Philadelphia 36
The Lady Cougars pulled away in the second half as they took a seven-point win over the Lady Tornadoes on Saturday.
County led 12-11 at the end of the first but Philly outscored County 12-6 in the second and led 23-18 at the half. County took control in the second half as they outscored Philly 11-3 in the third to take a 29-26 lead going into the fourth. County finished by outscoring Philly 14-7 in the fourth for the final margin.
Nahriah Brown led County with 13 points while Jayden Mack had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
