The Union Lady Yellowjackets grabbed one of three games they played last week.
After a 5-4 loss to West Lauderdale on Tuesday, Union bounced back and beat Meridian 11-1 on Friday. The Lady Jackets then turned around and lost a 6-1 contest to Newton County to finish the week out on Friday.
Union is set to host Enterprise on Monday and then play at Newton County on Thursday in their other scheduled action this week.
Union 11, Meridian 1
The Lady Yellowjackets needed just five innings to run-rule Meridian on Friday night at Newton County to grab their first win.
Union had 12 hits in the contest as Dallas Brown was 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Kenley Pullin was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kayleigh Vance was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while DaShayla Jackson tripled, scored twice and drove in two runs.
McKenlee McDaniel allowed just five hits and one unearned run to pick up the win.
Newton County 6, Union 1
The Lady Cougars used a pair of big innings to take a five-run win over the Lady Yellowjackets on Friday.
Union scored one in the top of the third while Newton County responded with two in the bottom of the frame. The Lady Cougars added one in the fourth and three in the fifth.
County outhit Union 9-6 in the contest.
Kaleigh Vance, Dallas Brown, McKenied McDaniel, Jordan Turner and Kaydon Turner all had singles. Anna Grace Blount singled and scored a run while Kenley Pullin had an RBI.
West Lauderdale 5, Union 4
Union struggled at the plate with just four hits but drew seven walks to open the season in one-run loss to West Lauderdale.
West outhit Union 7-4. McKenlee McDaniel tripled and scored for Unoin while Dallas Brown, Abbie Jenkins and Anna Grace Blount also had singles for Union.
