Union’s baseball season came to an end last week at the hands of Class 2A’s best teams.
The Yellowjackets were swept by Calhoun City, losing 7-0 on Friday and 24-1 on Saturday.
Union finished the season with a 14-10 record.
Calhoun City 7, Union 0
The Wildcats took advantage of nine walks and shut out the Yellowjacket in the first game of the series on Friday.
After four scoreless innings, Calhoun scored one in the fifth, four in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Calhoun outhit Union 6-4 in the contest. J.T. Vance, Kolton Cockerham, Jaylon Buckley and Henry Thornton each singled.
Buckley started on the mound and pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out eight. Henry Thornton, Vance and Judd Young each pitched.
Calhoun City 24, Union 1
The Wildcats outhit the Yellowjackets 15-2 and took advantage of 11 walks to take a run-rule win on Saturday.
Calhoun City scored six in the second, eight in the third and 10 in the fourth to take the win.
J.T. Vance singled and scored Union’s only run while Jaylon Buckley also singled.
Trevor Patchin, Vance, Henry Thornton, Judd Young and Preston Germany all pitched for the Yellowjackets.
