The Lake Hornets grabbed a much-needed win last week as they beat rival Scott Central on Monday.
The Hornets finished strong as they beat the Rebels 61-55 in a game moved up due to inclement weather on Tuesday.
Lake will host Puckett on Tuesday and finish out the regular season on Friday as they travel to Philadelphia.
Lake boys 61, Scott Central 55
The Hornets used a pair of big of periods to beat rival Scott Central last Monday.
Scott Central jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first period before the Hornets outscored the Rebels 23-14 in the second to take a 32-29 lead at the half. Scott Central took the lead back in the third as the Rebels outscored the Hornets 17-13 to take a 46-45 lead. Lake then pulled away in the fourth period as they outscored the Rebels 16-9 to take the win.
Zywon Ledbetter had a big game with 23 points, seven steals and six rebounds. Danarrious Hughes had 19 points and six rebounds while J’Lann Broadfoot had eight points and eight rebounds.
Scott Central girls 42, Lake 38
The Lady Rebels used a big second period and held on to take a four-point win over the Lady Hornets on Monday.
Scott Central led 6-2 at the end of the first and then outscored Lake 20-11 in the second for a 26-13 lead at the half. Lake mounted a comeback in the second half as they outscored Scott Central 13-6 in the third and 12-10 in the fourth but fell short.
Daneshia Jones led Lake with 17 points while D’Nara Barton had seven points and Tra’Shaylah Wilson added six points.
