Union kicked off its basketball season with a sweep of Stringer on Saturday.
The Union girls dominated in a 57-22 win while the Union boys gave coach John Darnell his first win at Union with a 55-49 win.
Union played at Enterprise on Tuesday and will host Sebastopol on Thursday. Union will then travel to Newton County on Friday and West Lauderdale on Saturday.
Union girls 57, Stringer 22
The Lady Yellowjackets used a big first half to blow away Stringer by 35 on Saturday.
Union led 22-8 at the end of the first and then outscored the Lady Red Devils 17-0 in the second for a 39-8 lead at the half.
The Lady Yellowjackets had a balanced scoring attack as Ansley Rigby, Kamyia Russell and Keirra Russell each had 13 points apiece while Eryanna Mason had 10 points.
Union boys 55, Stringer 49
The Union boys opened the season with a six-point win over Stringer to give first-year coach John Darnell a victory in his opener.
Union led 14-13 at the end of the first and then stretched the lead in the second by outscoring the Red Devils 18-10 to lead 32-23 at the half. Stringer fought back and outscored Union 14-10 in the third to cut the lead to 43-37 going into the fourth where each team scored 12 points apiece.
Dorian Hunter led Union with 13 points while E.J. Campbell had 11 points and J.T. Vance had 10. P.J. Gage had nine points and Alex Adkins added six points.
