The Union Lady Yellowjackets only got in one game last week.
In a key Division 4-2A contest, Union dropped a 5-3 decision to Philadelphia.
Union, now 7-7 on the season, returned to action on Tuesday when they traveled to Newton. Thursday’s game with Lake was rained out and will be made up on Wednesday in a varsity contest at 4 p.m. On Friday, Union will host Sebastopol in a 6 p.m. contest and will host Northwest Rankin on Saturday at noon.
Philadelphia 5, Union 3
The Lady Tornadoes scored three runs in the third inning and held on to take a two-run win over the Lady Jackets on Monday.
Each team scored two runs in the second inning before Philly plated three in the third inning. Union scored one in the top of the seventh but couldn’t mount a comeback.
Union had just five hits in the contest with no multiple hitters. Lilly Burton had a single and drove in a run while Anna Grace Blount singled and scored a run. Mackenzie Dolan, Anna Rigdon and Kayleigh Vance also had singles.
Rigdon started in the circle and pitched all six innings as she gave up five runs on 11 hits while striking out six.
Philadelphia’s Nia Luckett was dominating gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 10.
