The Lake Hornets split a pair of games this past week as they suffered their first loss of the year.
The Honest lost 4-3 to Choctaw Central on Tuesday and then came from behind to beat Leake Central 6-5 on Wednesday.
Lake (7-1) returned to play this week, as they traveled to Raleigh on Monday and hosted Sebastopol on Tuesday. They will travel to Sebastopol on Friday and travel to Pelahatchie in Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest.
Choctaw Central 4, Lake 3
The Hornets gave up three runs in the first inning and couldn’t complete the comeback as they dropped their first game of the season to the Warriors.
Lake had six hits in the contest as Will Geter and Ben Moore were each 2-for-3 while Geter scored a run. Brady McGee singled and scored while Mickey Parker had a single.
Noah Essary pitched all seven inning and gave up four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five.
Lake 6, Leake Central 5
The Hornets had to score four runs in the sixth to complete a come-from-behind win over the Gators on Wednesday.
Lake had six hits as Noah Essary was 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Brady McGee had a single, walk, scored twice and drove in two runs. Logan Palmer singled, walked and scored two runs.
Brady McGee got the start and pitched all seven innings, giving up five runs, only two earned on six hits and one walk while striking out seven.
