Even with rain last week, Newton County Academy managed to squeeze in four baseball games.
The Generals won just one game, beating Kemper Academy 12-3 on Tuesday before falling 18-8 to Winston Academy on Thursday.
NCA lost two games on Saturday. Losing 12-2 to Magnolia Heights and 8-4 to Hartfield.
NCA was scheduled to take on Leake Academy at the Lamar Invitational on Tuesday and will play Central Hinds on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Lamar in their only scheduled action of the week.
NCA 12, Kemper Academy 3
The Generals used three big innings, as they took a six-inning win over the Rams on Tuesday.
NCA scored three in the first, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.
NCA had 10 hits in the contest, led by Lincoln Jordan who was 3-for-4 two runs scored. Logan Little was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs score and four RBIs. Kemp Alderman had a three-run home run in the first inning. Lee Hollingsworth score two runs while Sam Mays, Braxton Thoms and Dalton Sibley each singled and scored a run Jacob Smith and Hayden Wall were also credited with RBIs. Thomas also had two stolen bases.
Kemp Alderman got the start and pitched three innings and struck out seven while Wesley Williams pitched the final three innings and gave up three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three.
Winston Academy 18, NCA 8
NCA had six hits in the contest as Kemp Alderman was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBIs and two walks. Lincoln Jordan was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while Lee Hollingsworth had a single, walk, one RBI and two runs scored. Jacob Smith and Hayden Wall each had singles while Braxton Thomas scored two runs.
Harber Reese got the start and took the loss giving up 11 runs in one-plus innings as he gave up four hits and five walks while walking two. Hayden Wall pitched three innings, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out two.
Magnolia Heights 12, NCA 2
Lincoln Jordan and Braxton Thoms had NCA’s only hits and each scored a run.
Logan Little pitched one inning and gave up three runs on two hits while Wesley Williams pitched one inning and gave up two runs on one hit. Kemp Alderman got the start and pitched three innings and gave up six runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five.
Hartfield Academy 8, NCA 4
Hartfield scored single runs in the first, second, third and fourth and pulled away with four runs in the sixth. NCA scored one in the fourth and sixth with two runs in the seventh.
NCA had seven hits in the contest as Braxton Thoms was 2-for-4 with a double. Kemp Alderman had a solo home run, his third of the season, and was walked twice. Alec Thompson had a double and drove in two runs. Hayden Wall, Lincoln Jordan and Harber Rees had NCA’s other hits.
Austin Upton pitched four innings and gave up three runs on four hits while Thoms pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on three hits and three walks.
