The Union Lady Yellowjackets continued their recent slide on the softball diamond, losing a pair of games this past week, falling 11-7 to Newton County and 7-4 to Clarkdale.
Union looked to get back on track on Tuesday when the Lady Jackets travelled to Sebastopol. The Lady Yellowjackets will travel to Noxapater on Thursday and will play at Northwest Rankin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and then against Brookhaven at noon.
Clarkdale 7, Union 4
Clarkdale scored five runs in the third inning and held on to take a three-run win over the Lady Jackets on Tuesday.
Union scored one run in the first and second innings and added two in the seventh for the final margin.
Union had 12 hits in the contest as Lilly Burton was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Mackenzie Dolan and Anna Rigdon were each 2-for-3 while Macy Lott scored two runs.
Ansley Rigby gave up 13 hits and seven runs and was tagged with the loss.
Newton County 11, Union 7
The Lady Cougars scored six runs in the first inning and kept their distance from the Lady Yellowjackets on Monday.
After Newton County scored six in the first, Union answered with three runs in the first inning. Newton County added one in the second and two in the fifth to go up 9-3. Union responded with two in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-4. County added single runs in the sixth and seventh as Union scored two more in the bottom of the seventh for the final margin.
Union’s Makenzie Dolan was 3-for-4 with three home runs and five RBIs. Macy Lott was 3-for-4 while Parker Breland and Tysia Jackson each had two hits apiece as Union banged out 13 hits.
