Getting the Message: Matthew 2:1-12

The passage in Matthew 2:1-12 about the Magi coming to worship Christ when He was an infant is a fascinating story. In verse 2, they come to Jerusalem saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” The star rising and the interpretation by the Magi is mysterious.

Getting the Message: Luke 2:22-32

The passage we are looking at this week in Luke 2: 22-32 teaches us the consolation Simeon found in the coming of Christ. Simeon’s song is called “Nunc Dimittis,” or now released. Simeon says, “Now you are letting your servant depart in peace” (verse 29).
