The apostle Paul, in the city of Lystra on his first mission trip, is stoned and dragged out of the city, assumed to be dead (verse 19). This happened after he had preached the gospel and the Lord had miraculously healed a crippled man at Paul’s command. The crowds had responded by attempting to worship both Paul and Barnabas as gods.
