When you think of grabbing a quick meal at McDonald’s, the last thing on your mind is getting sick—seriously sick. But here we are, following an E. coli outbreak linked to the Quarter Pounder, and it’s got many people concerned. As of Oct. 29, 2024, 75 people have fallen ill, 22 have been hospitalized, and one person has died.

Cross Country: Newton County Cross Country Earns Top Prize at Pumpkin Run

The Newton County Cross Country team claimed the spotlight at this year’s State Games of Mississippi Pumpkin Run, earning a $200 Walmart gift card as the organization with the most participants. Held annually each October, the Pumpkin Run combines athleticism with festive fun, featuring costume contests and prizes.
