The Newton County Academy Lady Generals got in three games last week with a pair of old rivals.

The Lady Generals fell 3-1 to Sylva-Bay last week and then beat Kemper Academy twice, 5-0 on Tuesday and 7-5 on Thursday.

Football: Newton County Tops Lake 23-6 in Pre-Season Jamboree Scrimmage

Newton County and Lake played their traditional pre-season jamboree on Friday night.

And both coaches agreed it was a typical jamboree-type night as the Cougars outscored the Hornets 23-6 in the two-quarter scrimmage.

After a somewhat slow start to the season, the Union Lady Yellowjackets seem to be hitting their stride.

Union took two big mid-week wins last week, beating Neshoba Central 3-0 on Tuesday, winning 25-15,26-24 and 25-15. The lady Yellowjackets then beat West Lauderdale 3-0 on Thursday, winning 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18.

Football: Generals Rally Past Prentiss Christian, Win 42-13 on the Road

The Newton County Academy General made the long road trip to Prentiss Christian on Friday night.

And things didn’t start so well for the Generals.

After falling behind 7-0, the Generals scored six unanswered touchdowns and took a convincing 42-13 win.
