Softball: Lady Generals Dominate with Back-to-Back Wins

The Newton County Academy Lady Generals rebounded from a slow start last week to take a pair of big wins this week.

The Lady Generals opened the day on Saturday with a 10-6 win over Class 6A Hartfield and then beat Leake Academy 13-4 to finish out the day.

Local Football Teams Start Fall Practice

Area football teams got their fall practices under way this week as they prepare for the season opener on Aug. 23.

Newton, Newton County and Lake kicked off practice on Monday while Union started on Tuesday. Newton County Academy completed its second week of practice and began week three.

Football: NCA prepares for opener with Sylva Bay

The Newton County Academy football team got an early start to fall practice last week.

The Generals kicked off fall practice last week as they prepare for a “week zero” game against rival Sylva Bay on Aug. 16.

Veteran coach Stevie Nelson said he saw some good and bad last week but was pleased overall.
