Basketball: Lady Generals clinch spot in state tournament

The Newton County Academy girls qualified for the Class 3A state tournament again.

The Lady Generals qualified on Tuesday when they beat Franklin Academy 53-33 in first-round action at the South 3A tournament.

BASKETBALL: Union girls fall in finals, boys rally from heartbreaker

The Lady Bobcats posted a furious fourth-period comeback and took a five-point win to hand the Lady Yellowjackets their first loss in division 4-2A play.
