Football: Generals Dominate Park Place, Enter Playoffs on Seven-Game Win Streak

After starting the season 2-2, the Newton County Academy Generals will enter the Class 2A playoffs on a roll.

The Generals won their seventh straight game as they cruised to a 40-14 win over Park Place on Friday night.

MHSAA Football: Yellowjackets Dominate the Jaguars in Clean Game

Turnovers have been a problem for the Union Yellowjackets all season.

But the Yellowjackets went turnover free on Friday night and cruised to a 47-20 win over J.Z. George to stay unbeaten in division 4-2A play.

Union improves to 3-5 on the season and will host Sebastopol on Friday night.

Lake volleyball coach Jeremy Bowen said team wanted another shot at St. Andrew’s after getting beat in the South State finals last year.

Lake got that shot and beat the Lady Saints 3-1 after losing the first set to advance to the Class 2A championship game.

But on Friday night, the Bobcats had four turnovers as Eupora held on late to take a 22-14 win over Sebastopol in a key 4-2A game on Friday night.
