Newton County man charged with stealing ATVs in Jasper County

A Newton County resident is behind bars in Jasper County for his part in a string of ATV thefts in January.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Department arrested 51-year-old David McIntosh on March 12 in connection with the theft on County Road 13 in the Louin community. He faces charges of grand larceny.

Aldermen approve engineer for CDGB grant, plan to upgrade water well

Union Aldermen are hoping to get a little help upgrading the town’s infrastructure this year through a Community Development Block Grant. In a special called meeting of the Board of Aldermen Tuesday, Mayor Wayne Welch explained the town was applying for the grant to fund improvements to the town’s water well.
