The Union Lady Yellowjackets opened the season with a big win over one of the state’s biggest schools.
Union took a 6-4 win over Class 6A Clinton on Saturday at Lake.
Union will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Nanih Waiya. On Thursday, the Lady Yellowjackets will travel to Southeast Lauderdale before they play Meridian on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Newton County.

The Lady Yellowjackets overcame an error-filled game to take a two-run win over the Class 6A Lady Arrows on Saturday at Lake.
Union scored two runs in the first and third innings while Clinton scored two in the second and fourth innings to tie the score. Union added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the win.
Each team had five hits in the contest, as Analee Wheeler was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Lady Yellowjackets. Jordan Turner doubled and scored a run. Dallas Brown scored two runs and drive in a run. Kenley Pullin singled and also scored a run.
Britli Cleveland pitched all seven innings for the Lady Yellowjackets and gave up four runs, only one earned on five hits and one walk while striking out seven.
