The Union Yellowjackets grabbed four wins last week and stayed unbeaten on the season.
Union needed overtime to beat Leake County 48-44 on Tuesday and took a hard-fought 45-40 win over Newton County on Thursday. The Yellowjackets then hammered Ethel 79-49 on Friday and then beat Newton County 46-35 on Saturday to win the Sebastopol Tournament championship.
Union, now 8-0 on the season, will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Newton County and then to Nanih Waiya on Thursday. They will then travel to West Lauderdale on Friday and then host Noxapater on Saturday.
Union boys 46, County 35
The Yellowjackets built a double-digit lead in the first three periods and took an 11-point win over the Cougars on Saturday to win the Sebastopol Tournament title.
Union led 8-5 at the end of the first and 20-14 at the half. Union outscored Newton County 18-11 in the third and led 38-25 going to the fourth.
J.T. Vance led newton County with 20 points while Jamarcus Jones had seven points.
Josiah Cleveland led Newton County with nine points while Miguel Evans added five points.
Union boys 79, Ethel 49
The Yellowjackets had their best scoring night of the season to take a 30-point win over the Tigers on Friday at Sebastopol.
Union led 21-12 at the end of the first and outscored the Tigers 20-13 for a 41-25 lead at the half. Union put the game away in the third, outscoring Ethel 20-6 to lead 61-31.
J.T. Vance led Union with 25 points while Jamarcus Jones had 11 points. Kolten Cockerham had nine points and E.J. Campbell added eight points.
Union boys 45, County 40
The Yellowjackets used a strong second period and held on to take a five-point win over the Cougars on Thursday at Sebastopol.
Newton County led 12-11 at the end of the first before Union used an 11-3 advantage in the second to lead 22-15 at the half. Union outscored Newton County 13-11 in the third for a 35-26 lead going to the fourth. Newton County took the fourth 14-10 for the final margin.
Jamarcus Jones led Union with 17 points while J.T. Vance had 15 points.
Joshia Cleveland led Newton County with 16 points while Davion Hillie added nine points.
Union boys 48, Leake Co. 44
The Yellowjackets needed overtime to take a four-point win over the Gators on Tuesday.
Leake led 12-10 at the end of the first but trailed 20-18 at the half. Leake outscored Union 17-14 in the third to lead 35-34 but Union forced an overtime period where they used a 6-2 advantage to take the win.
J.T. Vance led Union with 14 points while Jada Russell had 11points. Kenyon Clay had eight points while Jamarcus Jones added seven points.
