SOFTBALL: Yellowjackets split its games over spring break holidays

The Union Lady Yellowjackets split a pair of games over the spring break holidays.

The Lady Yellowjackets lost 13-3 to Taylorsville on Friday and then bounced back to take a 3-0 shutout win over Clarkdale.

BASEBALL: Buckley signs with Northwest Community College

Union’s Jaylon Buckley is headed north to play baseball.

The Union standout recently signed March 12 to play college baseball at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Buckley has started for the Yellowjackets since the eighth grade and had an outstanding sophomore season on the mound and at the plate.

BASEBALL: Yellowjackets take down Northeast Lauderdale

For Union baseball coach Joey Ward, it’s all about consistency.

Ward said he has seen flashes of good play from his offense, defense and pitching. But he’s also seen flashes of poor play as well as the Yellowjackets head into the second half of the season.
