The Union baseball team got two big district wins last week as they swept J.Z. George 23-0 and 12-1.
The Lady Yellowjackets also got in four games but lost three of those after a big 16-15 win over Lake.

The Union baseball team took two of three wins last week, sweeping J.Z. George before falling to Lake on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Union hammered J.Z. George 23-0 with a no-hit effort. Union scored 10 in the first and 13 in the second to take the run-rule win. Kooper Fultz was 3-for-3 with five RBIS while Austin Lee was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Jacob Freeman was 2-for-3 while Sawyer Robinson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jackson Flake doubled and drove in two runs while Rafe Manning doubled and had three RBIs. Tanner Watkins also tripled and drove in two runs. Fultz pitched the first two innings and didn’t allow a hit or run and struck out three while Freeman pitched the last inning and struck out three.
On Friday, Union took another run-rule win over J.Z. George with a 12-1 victory. Union pulled away with five in the second and four in the third. Union had 11 hits in the contest, led by Austin Lee who was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Kooper Fultz was 2-for-3 with four RBIs while Jackson Flake was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jacob Freeman was 2-for-3 while Mason Tucker also doubled. Rafe Manning, Flake, Zack Goforth, Ryder Furr and Hunter Watkins each pitched an inning for Union.
On Saturday, Union lost 16-3 to Union in a seven-inning contest. Lake outhit Union 15-4 while the Yellowjackets had 10 errors in the field. Union had just four hits as Mason Tucker was 2-for-4 while Jacob Freeman doubled. Tanner Watkins started and pitched four innings while Kooper Fultz, Jacob Freeman, Rafe Manning and Ryder Burr all pitched in relief.
Union, now 8-5, will play at Choctaw Central on Tuesday and host the Warriors on Friday before playing Newton on Saturday.

It was a busy week for the Union softball team as they lost three of four games.
On Tuesday, Union took a 16-15 win over Lake with six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Union had 12 hits, led by Tiara Campbell who was 4-for-6 with a double, triple and five RBIs. Landrey Hanna was 3-for-5 with a double while Destiny Moulds was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Alanee Wheeler walked five times and scored three runs. Maggie Atkinson also had a double. Abigail Cleveland started and got just one out while Raleigh Dickerson pitched two innings. Aubrie Coleman pitched the last 4 2/3 innings and got the win.
On Thursday, Union dropped a 10-8 decision to Northeast Lauderdale. NEL scored two in the first and three in the fifth and sixth. Union scored two in the sixth and four in the seventh to make it close. Union had 10 hits, led by Raleigh Dickerson who was 3-for-4 with a double. Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Landrey Hanna was 2-for-3 with a double. Wheeler pitched all six innings and gave up eight runs on 10 hits while striking out 11.
On Friday, Union lost 16-0 to Enterprise, who scored three in the first, four in the third, one in the fourth and eight in the fifth. Aubrie Coleman started and gave up eight runs on 12 hits in 3 2/3 innings while Raleigh Dickerson pitched the last 1 1/3 innings.
On Saturday, Union dropped a tight 3-2 contest to Hernando. Union scored two in the first while Hernando scored all three in the third. Alanee Wheeler doubled while Maggie Atkinson singled and drove in two runs. Wheeler pitched all six innings and gave up three runs on eight hits while striking out seven.
Union is now 8-9 on the season and will play Eupora in a two-game series this week with game 1 on Tuesday at Union. Game 2 will be Thursday at Eupora.
Union tennis
The Union tennis team continued its strong play with wins over Sebastopol and Clarkdale.
Against Sebastopol, Union won 7-0. In singles, Ethan Brasher won 6-2, 6-1 while Annley Howell won 6-2, 6-0. In boys doubles, Cooper Capps and Jude Feasel won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Levi Ferguson and Ashton Wilcher won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Julia Harrison and Rylee Pullin won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while C.C. Burroughs and Ava Smith won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. In mixed doubles, Denver McCoy and Cory Smith won 6-0, 6-1.
Against Clarkdale, Union won 5-2. In boys singles, Ethan Brasher won 6-1, 6-0 while Annley Howell lost 6-1, 6-1 in girls singles.
