This week, two of our school districts released updated plans for the opening of school.
Newton Municipal School District may have taken the most drastic measure by delaying in-person instruction until after Labor Day, but I agree with their decision. And I think it is likely the right decision for their district.

Sheriff patrol car totaled in weekend incident

A Newton County Sheriff’s deputy had a close call this weekend when a motorist crashed into his parked patrol car.
Sheriff Joedy Pennington said deputies were responding to a wreck with injuries on I-20 this weekend when a lady accidentally struck a patrol car on the side of the highway.

Veto makes special session necessary

Your Senate concluded work at the Capitol late on July 1, 2020. This concludes legislative work until the federal government releases additional COVID-19 funding or until the governor calls the legislature back into special session. The legislature sent nearly 200 individual bills to the governor for his signature.
