Swimming: NCHS Swim Team Brings Home Record Number of Medals

The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Championships for Swimming took place this past weekend at the Tupelo Aquatic Center. Over three hundred of the best swimmers in Mississippi competed for medals and team points in front of hundreds of spectators.

Choctaw Central at Newton County: Cougars set tone early, soundly defeat Warriors 42-7

The Newton County offense set the tone early and the defense followed suit on Friday night against Choctaw Central.

The Cougars hit a big 79-yard touchdown pass early as they raced out to a 27-0 lead and cruised to a 42-7 win over Choctaw Central.

Class4A Volleyball State Championship: New Albany uses momentum in fifth set to defeat the NCHS Lady Cougars in title match

Newton County’s volleyball season came down to a 15-point fifth set for the Class 4A state championship.

But in a game of runs and momentum, New Albany took a 9-1 lead in that fifth set and used that momentum to win the fifth set 15-5 and claim the Class 4A state championship on Thursday at Mississippi College.
