Newton County Cougars Baseball Sweeps Division as Tennis Dominates Tournament

The Newton County baseball team won two out of three games last week, including a big division sweep over Northeast Lauderdale.

The Lady Cougars softball team didn’t fare as well, dropping two games to Choctaw Central and one to Clinton.

BASEBALL: Cougars pick up a sweep of Richland to stay above .500

The Newton County baseball team picked up two big wins this week as they swept two games from Richland.

The Cougars had to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 3-2 on Thursday night in walk-off fashion and then took an 8-6 win on Friday.

SOFTBALL: Newton County continues in regular season

The Newton County softball team picked up two more wins this past week to run their win streak to 13 games.

The Lady Cougars stayed unbeaten in division play as they beat Florence 8-3 on Thursday and then beat Clarkdale 12-2 on Friday.

Newton County improves to 15-4 on the season.
