Voters who cast their ballots at the Scanlan voting precinct will need to change course to vote in the March 10 primary election after the Newton County Board of Supervisors approved relocating the voting precinct to the East Central Alternative School.
Beat 3 Supervisor Charles Moulds, whose beat includes the Scanlan precinct, said the polling location was changed to be more accomodating to voters and to provide better accomodations for poll workers.
“It’s more convinent, and it has a lot better facilities,” he said.
The East Central Alternative School, also known as the Decatur Alternative School or former Boler High School, boast a much larger parking area, a handicap accessiblity ramp and better facilities for voters and poll workers, Moulds said.
Registered voters in the Scanlan precinct should expect to receive a letter from the Newton County Election Commission with more information about the new polling location.
