Generals end season

The Newton County Academy Generals fell one game short of playing for the Class 2A state championship.

After being tied 22-22 at the half, Tallulah reeled off 30 straight points in the second half to take a 52-36 win over the Generals.

NCA ends the season with a 10-2 record.

Hornets survive second round with extra points

The Lake Hornets used all three phases of the game on Friday night against East Marion.

Three made PATs by Frank Pazos proved to be the difference as Lake took a 21-18 win over East Marion in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Hornets open postseason with dominant win

At this point of the season, Lake coach Tate Hanna said the most important thing is to survive and advance.

The Hornets did just, using a stingy defense to take a 28-7 win over Pisgah on Friday.

The Hornets (6-5) will travel to East Marion on Friday in a second-round playoff game.

Bobcats edged in regular season finale

With playoff position on the line, the Sebastopol Bobcats gave Hamilton their best shot.

But the Lions showed why they were undefeated division champions as they scored late in the fourth quarter to come back and take a 33-30 win over Sebastopol on Thursday night.
