Thousands of people came out to the Central Mississippi Residential Center annual Fall Festival last week to celebrate the Halloween season.
Long lines of people were ready to go when the event kicked off, and the crowd stayed steady throughout the day.
In fact, Administrative Coordinator Donna Creekmore said they had to shut down Treat Street about 30 minutes early because their candy allotment was exhausted.
“This year’s Fall Festival was well supported by the community,” Creekmore said. “CMRC and the Friends of CMRC, Inc. would like to thank everyone for their continued support of this event. As you know, Fall Festival is our main fundraiser for Friends of CMRC, Inc. We consider this year a success in having raised over $4,000 to support the clients at CMRC. We had 35 storefronts that were sponsored by area businesses and we estimate there were over 3,000 community members who attended this year’s festival. CMRC is appreciative for the support of Newton and the surrounding communities.”
Funds from the fundraiser go to the Friends of CMRC, Inc., non-profit organization that helps raise money to provide items for residents at the center.
