The Newton basketball teams had a good, old-fashioned slugfest with Lake on Friday night.
The Lady Tigers rallied a six-point deficit on Friday to beat the defending Class 2A champions 33-29 while the Tigers pulled away from a scrappy Lake boys’ team to take a 61-52 win.
