ECCC falls in Game 1 of regional series with EMCC

The East Central Community College Warrior baseball team dropped a tight one to East Mississippi in game one of the NJCAA Region 23 best-of-three play-in series on Thursday afternoon in Scooba. The Warriors led by as much as 5-1 in the seventh, but the Lions came back to grab the win late in the contest.

softball: newton county 11-1-3, Stone county 5-4-1 — County holds off Stone in Game 3

It took three games but the Newton County Lady Cougars are advancing in the Class 4A playoffs.

Newton County opened the series with an easy 11-5 win over Stone County before dropping game 2 of the series 4-1 on Saturday. The Lady Cougars then finished off the Lady Tomcats on Monday, winning 3-1 to take the second-round series win.
