While Gov. Tate Reeves lifted masking mandates statewide, the City of Newton will maintain its local mask mandate.
During the Newton Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting March 2, the board informally agreed to keep the mandate in place until they felt the county was through with any significant spikes in new cases.
