ECCC preps for summer youth programs

East Central Community College is gearing up for its summer with a variety of summer youth programs for local students.

In a Board of Trustees meeting last Tuesday, Teresa Mackey, vice president for instruction, announced East Central would be launching a 4-H robotics program and a GenCyber camp for young girls this year.

Seventh of Newton Nine shooting found guilty

Newton resident Darron Lashaun Thames was found guilty in Newton County Circuit Court today on charges of accessory after the fact to murder for his part in a March 2017 murder.

Ten people were arrested in the days following a shooting at 113 Tillman St. that claimed the life of 21-year-old Jamarcus Townsend.
