Firefighters, police officers and other first responders had the opportunity to pick up a free box of chicken last week at the Tyson Foods feed mill in Union.
The chicken, which was packaged in 50-pound boxes, was offered to first responders as part of Tyson Foods’ efforts to give back during the Covid-19 outbreak.
“We’re proud to support our team members, communities and first responders. In this unprecedented environment, every day, more of our friends and neighbors are depending on local food banks and community pantries to provide for their families. Tyson Foods is committed to addressing this need,” Derek Burleson, a spokesperson for Tyson Foods said via email.
In addition to first responders, Tyson Foods also donated chicken to staff of several local schools and other agencies in the area. Burleson said the company has given out more than 6 million pounds of food since early March.
