Board of Supervisors increase millage rates for three schools

After being presented with a shortfall request by the Newton Municipal School District two weeks ago, some members of the Board of Supervisors attempted to deny a millage increase for the school board to cover a short fall notice presented to the board at their last regular meeting. Proposed city-wide pay raises concern Newton police chief

After hours of debate during their regularly schedule board meeting last Tuesday and a presentation by Newton Police Chief Randy Patrick and Officer McKenzie Chapman to give officers a $2 per hour pay raise and cut part-time officers, the city determined that all city employees would receive a three-percent cost of living raise.

NMSD shortfalls dominate supervisors’ budget discussion
