SOFTBALL: Generals end season in state tourney

Newton County Academy’s softball season came to an end in the Class AA state tournament on Saturday.

NCA won the opening round game, beating Glenbrook 11-7, before falling to Centreville 10-6 and Claiborne 8-2.

NCA finishes the season with a 13-17-1 record under first-year coach Kelly Alderman.

The schedule didn’t get any easier for Newton County Academy last week.

The Generals dropped their sixth straight game, falling to Winona Christian 44-0.

The Generals are now 0-6 on the season and will host Amite on Friday night, a team they beat 16-0 last year.

NCA to host 50th anniversary celebration

Newton County Academy will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 2.

A school that has been around for 50 years typically has a lot of history surrounding the beginning stages and throughout the decades of operation.
